Utopia of the Seas is the sixth and newest ship in Royal Caribbean's iconic Oasis class — and the first in the class to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG). While her larger sister Icon of the Seas pioneered the Icon class, Utopia carries on the beloved Oasis eight-neighbourhood formula and sharpens it for a different purpose: short 3- and 4-night getaways from Port Canaveral. Every sailing visits Perfect Day at CocoCay and Nassau, making her the ultimate long-weekend escape for East Coast travellers. Onboard, the Oasis neighbourhood layout means there's always something to discover — Central Park's botanical garden, the Boardwalk's AquaTheater, the Royal Promenade's shops and bars, FlowRider surf simulators, and the expanded adults-only Solarium pool. Utopia also debuted exclusive venues found nowhere else in the fleet: Royal Railway (an immersive train-themed restaurant), Izumi Omakase (Royal Caribbean's first chef-driven Japanese omakase), and Mason Jar, widely regarded as the best country music bar at sea.

✦ The standout feature

Royal Railway — an immersive dining experience exclusive to Utopia of the Seas where guests are 'boarded' into beautifully recreated vintage train cars with virtual windows that show scenery rolling past the American Old West. There's waiter service, a family-friendly story woven through the meal, and a frontier-inspired cocktail menu. It's the hottest restaurant in the cruise industry right now — book the moment reservations open in the app, as it sells out weeks in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Utopia and Icon of the Seas?
They are actually different ship classes. Icon of the Seas is Royal Caribbean's Icon class (248,663 GT) — featuring Category 6 waterpark, the AquaDome, and the Surfside and Chill Island neighbourhoods — and sails 7-night Caribbean itineraries from Miami. Utopia of the Seas (236,473 GT) is the sixth Oasis class ship, with eight classic Oasis neighbourhoods (Central Park, the Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, and more) plus exclusive additions like Royal Railway and Izumi Omakase. Utopia specialises in 3- and 4-night Bahamas getaways from Port Canaveral.
Does Utopia of the Seas stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay?
Yes — nearly all Utopia itineraries include a stop at Royal Caribbean's private island Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas, widely considered the best private island in the cruise industry, with Thrill Waterpark, swim-up bars, and reserved beach areas.
Is Utopia of the Seas a good choice for a first cruise?
It's an excellent first cruise if you want to pack a lot in. The 3- or 4-night length is approachable, the ship itself is jaw-dropping, and the short itinerary means you can trial cruising without a major time commitment.
