Grand Cayman
Stingray City, Seven Mile Beach, and the clearest water in the western Caribbean.
Overview
Grand Cayman is the largest of the three Cayman Islands and a firm favourite on Caribbean itineraries. There's no deep-water pier — ships anchor offshore and tender passengers in — but the island rewards those who make it ashore. Seven Mile Beach is one of the finest stretches of sand in the Caribbean, and the world-famous Stingray City sandbar is a bucket-list experience unlike anywhere else.

Top Beaches
Seven Mile Beach
Postcard-perfect white sand and calm, crystal-clear water. 15 min taxi from George Town.
Rum Point
Quiet, calm bay on the north shore — great for snorkelling. 45 min by taxi but worth the trip.
Cemetery Beach
Less crowded stretch north of Seven Mile. Free parking, good snorkelling at the reef just offshore.
Must Eat
Turtle Stew
A historic Caymanian dish — try it at Heritage Kitchen for an authentic local experience.
Fish Tacos
Fresh catch from the North Sound — any beachside shack at Seven Mile Beach does them well.
Rum Cake
Pick up Tortuga rum cake at the duty-free shops near the tender dock. The best souvenir.
💡 DIY Tip
Stingray City is the must-do — book a local operator directly at the tender dock rather than through the ship and save 30–40%. The sandbar is about 25 minutes by boat; rays are docile and the guides are excellent.
🚢 Ship Excursion Verdict
Book Stingray City through any operator — ship or local. For Seven Mile Beach, just take a taxi independently ($10 each way). Ship excursions add unnecessary cost for the beach.
