Overview
Icy Strait Point is a purpose-built cruise destination just outside Hoonah, the largest Tlingit village in Alaska, and it's owned and operated by the Huna Totem Corporation on behalf of the community — meaning tour revenue and cultural presentation are genuinely local rather than franchised. Icy Strait itself is one of the most consistent whale-feeding grounds in Southeast Alaska, with humpback sightings close to guaranteed in season. The old cannery building at the port now houses shops and a small museum, and the world's largest zipline (ZipRider) drops from the mountain behind the port down toward the shoreline.
