Overview

Singapore is one of Asia's busiest cruise homeports and the easiest place in the region to organise yourself. Ships use two terminals: Marina Bay Cruise Centre on the southern edge of the city centre and the Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront. Most visitors are either starting or ending a cruise here, so the day is often a turnaround, with hours to spare before boarding or after landing. The city is compact, clean and well signposted.

Singapore Cruise Port: Where Ships Dock

HarbourFront is connected to the metro and the VivoCity mall, so you can be in the centre in about 15 minutes. Marina Bay Cruise Centre is further out, so most visitors take a taxi or a ride-hailing car to the city centre, a short trip of around 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic.

DIY Port Logistics: "From Pier to Town"

The first 30 minutes can make or break your port day. Use this quick plan to exit the terminal fast and avoid overpriced transport mistakes.

Is it walkable?
Not always walkable for all terminals: HarbourFront is connected to the metro and the VivoCity mall, so you can be in the centre in about 15 minutes. Marina Bay Cruise Centre is further out, so most visitors take a taxi or a ride-hailing car to the city centre, a short trip of around 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic.
Water taxi or cheap local shuttle?
No fixed water taxi is guaranteed. Check the official port shuttle desk for low-cost local buses or shared shuttles before taking a private taxi.
Expected taxi rate to the main beach
Expect a short licensed taxi ride to Siloso Beach, Sentosa; agree the fare before departure because cruise-day pricing can vary.
Are ride-shares legally permitted at the pier?
Ride-shares are inconsistent at cruise terminals. Pickup is often restricted inside secured pier zones, so plan to meet drivers at the public gate if app pickup is blocked.

Top Beaches

Siloso Beach, Sentosa

The liveliest of Sentosa's artificial beaches, with beach bars and watersports, reachable by monorail or cable car from HarbourFront.

East Coast Park

A long seafront park on the east side with sand, cycle paths and seafood restaurants, a favourite of locals at weekends.

Must Eat

Hainanese chicken rice

Poached chicken over fragrant rice with chilli and ginger sauces. It is the national dish and is served at every hawker centre.

Chilli crab

A whole crab in a sweet and spicy tomato-chilli sauce, served with fried buns to soak it up, best eaten at a seafood restaurant.

Laksa

Noodles in a rich, spicy coconut-curry broth, found at hawker stalls and food courts across the city.

💡 DIY Tip

Take the metro (the MRT) from HarbourFront and tap in with a contactless bank card, then go to Gardens by the Bay and walk the free Supertree Grove. Eat at a hawker centre such as Lau Pa Sat or Maxwell Food Centre. Note that e-cigarettes and vapes are banned in Singapore, so leave them on the ship.

🚢 Ship Excursion Verdict

Not needed for the city. Singapore is easy to do alone by metro, taxi and ride-hailing. Book an excursion only for the Night Safari, where an organised transfer is convenient if you are short of time.
