Nieuw Statendam entered service in December 2018 as the second ship in Holland America's Pinnacle class, echoing lead ship Koningsdam's design while sharpening the details — a two-deck Music Walk, an expansive art collection, and some of the line's best-reviewed specialty dining. She spends her summer season sailing round-trip from Civitavecchia (Rome) around the Western Mediterranean and Greek Isles, then repositions each winter to Fort Lauderdale for Caribbean cruises. At just over 2,600 guests, she's a mid-sized ship built for travellers who want genuine port time, excellent food, and a calmer, more classic cruise experience than the big mass-market lines offer.
A two-level Music Walk lined with live-music venues — including the Rolling Stone Rock Room, added specifically to Nieuw Statendam and Koningsdam — plus Rudi's Sel de Mer, one of the best-reviewed seafood restaurants at sea.
