Oosterdam entered service in 2003 as the second of Holland America's four Vista-class ships, a design later scaled up into the Signature and Pinnacle classes. At just under 2,000 guests, she's the smallest and most intimate ship covered here, with a three-deck Vista Lounge theatre, the veteran Rolling Stone Lounge live-music venue, and an onboard art gallery refreshed during a 2025 dry dock. Oosterdam currently splits her year between seven- to 14-night Mediterranean sailings from rotating homeports — Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Piraeus, Lisbon and Trieste — each summer, and longer South America and Panama Canal repositioning voyages each winter. She's also the first HAL ship slated for the line's $500 million Evolution refurbishment, due to debut in late 2027 with new suites and dining.

✦ The standout feature

The classic Rolling Stone Lounge — one of the last of its kind in the fleet, refreshed with new furnishings and lighting during a 2025 dry dock — plus a rotating Mediterranean deployment across five different homeports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does Oosterdam sail?
In 2026, Oosterdam sails seven- to 14-night Mediterranean itineraries from rotating homeports including Barcelona, Civitavecchia, Piraeus, Lisbon and Trieste. In winter she repositions for longer South America and Panama Canal voyages between Fort Lauderdale and Chile or Argentina.
Is Oosterdam getting renovated?
Yes — she's the first ship in Holland America's $500 million Evolution programme, which will add new suite categories, a Grand Dutch Cafe and other Pinnacle Class-inspired upgrades. Oosterdam enters the shipyard after her 2026-2027 season and re-emerges in late 2027.
How does Oosterdam compare to newer Holland America ships?
She's the smallest and oldest ship covered here, carrying under 2,000 guests versus 2,650 on the Pinnacle-class ships. She still has the fleet's signature dining and live-music formula, but public spaces and cabins are noticeably more dated until her 2027 refit.
What is the Rolling Stone Lounge?
It's a live-music venue found on Oosterdam and her Vista-class sisters, where a seven-piece house band performs classic rock, pop and R&B hits. It replaced the ship's original B.B. King's Blues Club during a prior fleet-wide refurbishment.
