MSC Armonia entered service in 2001 as the lead ship of MSC's Lirica class, the line's first newbuilds. A major 2014 stretch added a new hull section, growing her from roughly 58,000 to 65,541 gross tons and adding nearly 200 new cabins. She's spent most of her career in the Mediterranean, based near Venice, with stints in the Caribbean along the way. For winter 2026-27, Armonia is making a first for MSC: a debut South African season, homeporting in Durban after a 26-night repositioning voyage from Marghera, Italy, via the Suez Canal, Seychelles, Madagascar, Mauritius, Réunion, and Mozambique. Onboard, she keeps things classic and intimate — anchored by Teatro La Fenice, named for Venice's opera house — rather than megaship scale.
