About Oceania Cruises
Founded 2002 · Culinary-focused, destination-rich cruising on mid-size ships
Oceania Cruises was founded in 2002 by Frank Del Rio, Bob Binder and Joe Watters, is headquartered in Miami, and has been owned by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings since 2014. It markets "The Finest Cuisine at Sea", with celebrity chef Jacques Pépin as executive culinary director since 2003, and specializes in longer, destination-focused voyages — typically 10 to 14 days, with some signature voyages far longer.
The fleet currently has seven ships: the newest Allura-class pair, Vista (2023) and Allura (2025); the O-class sisters Marina (2011) and Riviera (2012); and the small R-class ships Nautica, Insignia and Sirena, each carrying about 684 guests. Regatta left the fleet in August 2026. Nautica will be refurbished into the smaller Oceania Aurelia from October 2027, Insignia is scheduled through at least November 2027, and Sirena is due to leave after spring 2028. New Sonata-class ships of about 1,450 guests are planned from 2027.
The fare includes gratuities, all specialty restaurants with no cover charge, Starlink Wi-Fi, sodas, specialty coffees and teas, a self-service laundry, 24-hour in-room dining, enrichment lectures, and a choice of a shore excursion credit or a beverage package. The dress code is "country club casual", and a jacket is never required.
