Before she was Norwegian Jade, this Jewel-class ship sailed for two years as Pride of Hawaii, NCL's short-lived attempt at an all-American-crewed, Hawaii-based fleet. She was renamed Norwegian Jade in 2008 and redeployed to Europe, and has spent the years since criss-crossing the globe — Mediterranean summers, Mexican Riviera and Panama Canal winters, Alaska's Inside Passage, and increasingly, debut sailings around Asia from Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore. At 93,558 gross tons with just over 2,400 guests, she carries the same well-appointed Jewel-class layout as sister ship Norwegian Gem, with 15 decks, Freestyle dining, and a spa-and-suite Haven complex, but almost never the same itinerary two years running.

✦ The standout feature

Jade's deployment schedule is one of the most varied in the NCL fleet — in a single stretch she can sail Mexican Riviera, transit the Panama Canal to South America, spend a summer in Alaska, then reposition to Asia. Few ships this size cover so much ground.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why was Norwegian Jade previously called Pride of Hawaii?
She launched in 2006 as Pride of Hawaii, part of NCL America's US-flagged, Hawaii-based fleet, and was billed as the largest and most expensive American-flagged passenger ship ever built. That venture struggled financially, and NCL withdrew her from Hawaii in 2008, renaming her Norwegian Jade for international deployment.
Where does Norwegian Jade sail?
It varies year to year more than almost any other NCL ship. Recent and upcoming deployments include Mexican Riviera and Panama Canal sailings from San Diego, Alaska's Inside Passage between Vancouver and Whittier, and new debut sailings around Asia from Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Does Norwegian Jade have The Haven?
Yes. The Haven by Norwegian offers a private suite complex with its own pool, restaurant, lounge, and 24-hour butler and concierge service, giving guests a quieter, more upscale experience without switching to a dedicated luxury line.
Is Norwegian Jade good for solo travelers?
It doesn't have NCL's dedicated Studio solo cabins found on newer ships, so solo travelers typically pay a single supplement on standard cabins. That said, Freestyle Cruising's flexible dining times and open seating make it easy to eat alone or join communal tables.
