Launched in 2001 as the lead ship of the Dawn-class — a slightly larger, refined follow-on to Norwegian Sun — Norwegian Star has spent her career on some of the line's most adventurous itineraries: Hawaii, Alaska, the Mexican Riviera, and now 10- to 11-day 'Extraordinary Journeys' around Iceland and the Norwegian fjords from Southampton and Reykjavik. At 91,740 gross tons and carrying 2,348 guests across 15 decks, she's smaller and more classic in feel than NCL's newer ships, with two main dining rooms (Aqua and Versailles), Freestyle dining, and a Haven suite complex — but her real draw is where she sails, not what's onboard.
Star specializes in long, immersive, port-heavy itineraries rather than sea days and waterslides — her 10- and 11-day one-way Iceland and Norwegian fjords sailings visit far more remote ports than a typical 7-night Caribbean cruise ever will.
