Silver Origin entered service on 25 February 2022 as the first new purpose-built expedition ship for Silversea, designed specifically for the Galápagos Islands. She carries about 100 guests with 87 crew, is about 5,800 gross tons and 110 metres long, was built by Shipyard De Hoop in the Netherlands, and is registered in Ecuador. She was christened in Cristóbal in the Galápagos by conservationist Johanna Carrion. Her design involved Wilson Butler Architects, HBA Miami, GEM and 3Deluxe, and she was originally planned as a sister to Celebrity's Galápagos ship.
