Bermuda is unusual among cruise destinations because the ship spends most of the week in port. Most 7-night routes sail from the US East Coast, arrive on day three, stay for two or three days, and sail home. That gives you evenings on the island, which most cruise ports do not.
It also makes Bermuda a good first cruise for people who would rather spend time ashore than at sea. The island is small, the public transport is good, and the main pink-sand beaches are a short bus or ferry ride from the dock.
When to sail
- Best months
- May to September, with warm weather and sea temperatures that suit swimming.
- Shoulder season
- April and October. Cooler and quieter, and the sea is chilly for swimming in April.
- When to think twice
- Winter has almost no cruise service, and late summer into October is the peak of Atlantic hurricane season.
When to book for 2027
Bermuda sailings are concentrated in a season of about six months, and a limited number of ships serve each East Coast port. Summer weekends sell early.
