Cruises from Port Canaveral 2027
The cruise port for Orlando: theme parks and Kennedy Space Center, then a Bahamas or Caribbean sailing.

Port Canaveral sits on Florida's Space Coast, about 50 miles east of Orlando, and it is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world. Its location is its main selling point: it is the natural way to combine a theme-park holiday in Orlando with a cruise, and many of the biggest ships in the world are based here.
It is also the home of several family-focused lines, including Disney, and the usual sailings are 3 to 4-night Bahamas trips and 7-night Caribbean routes. The sections below cover how to get there from Orlando, where to park and where the ships go.
Getting to the Port Canaveral cruise port
Flying into Orlando
Orlando International (MCO) is about 45 miles west and the drive takes roughly 50 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. Cruise-line transfers and shuttle companies run between the airport and the port, and ride-hailing works too, so a rental car is unnecessary.
By car
The port is reached from Orlando by the Beachline Expressway (State Road 528), a toll road, and from Interstate 95 on the coast. The drive is straightforward, but traffic is heaviest on turnaround days, which are usually Saturdays and Sundays.
Combining with a theme-park trip
Many guests stay in Orlando first, then travel to the port. Disney guests can book a package that includes transfers, and other visitors use a hotel with a cruise shuttle. Allow a full travel day from the parks to the ship.
Terminals
Port Canaveral has several terminals, including a dedicated Disney terminal, and each cruise line generally uses its own. Your boarding documents name the terminal, so check it before you travel, since assignments can change by season.
Parking
Parking garages and lots are available at the terminals, charged by the day, and pre-booking is worth doing on busy weekends. Some hotels offer park-and-cruise packages. Our cruise port parking guide compares the options.

Cruising from Port Canaveral: questions
How far is Port Canaveral from Orlando airport?+
About 45 miles, which is roughly 50 to 60 minutes by car depending on traffic. Cruise-line transfers, shuttles and ride-hailing all serve the route, and most visitors do not need a rental car.
Can I combine a Disney World trip with a cruise from Port Canaveral?+
Yes, and it is one of the most common combinations. Allow a full day between the parks and the ship, never schedule a flight home the same day you disembark without a margin, and consider a Disney package that includes the transfers.
Which Port Canaveral terminal do I need?+
It depends on your cruise line and sometimes the ship, and it can change by season. Your boarding documents name the terminal. Check it before you travel, as the terminals are spread around the port.
Is Port Canaveral better than Miami or Fort Lauderdale?+
It depends on where you are flying from and what you want to do. Port Canaveral is the obvious choice if you are combining a cruise with Orlando or the Space Coast. Miami and Fort Lauderdale have bigger airports and a wider choice of lines.
