Greek Island Cruises 2027

A Greek Islands cruise is the easiest way to see several islands in a week without managing ferries and hotels. A typical route calls at one island or mainland site each day, often with a Turkish stop, and sleeps on board every night.
The catch is that the most famous islands are small. Santorini and Mykonos can feel full on a day with several ships in port, and some ports have no pier at all, so ships anchor and passengers go ashore by tender. Knowing that in advance is the difference between an enjoyable day and a frustrating one.
When to sail
- Best months
- May, June, September and early October, when the sea is warm and the sites are comfortable.
- Shoulder season
- April and late October. Cooler, with fewer ships and some seasonal closures.
- When to think twice
- July and August are hot and crowded, and the meltemi wind can make for rougher crossings and delayed tenders.
When to book for 2027
Greek Islands sailings are concentrated in a long summer season, with the most popular dates in June and September selling first. Cabin choice matters less here than ports, so it is usually better to put your effort into the route and the date.

Greek Islands cruise questions
Do ships dock or tender at Santorini?+
Most ships anchor off Santorini and passengers go ashore by tender, then reach the town of Fira by cable car, donkey or on foot. The queue for the cable car can be the longest part of the day, so plan for an early tender or a late return.
What is the best month for a Greek Islands cruise?+
May, June, September and early October. The weather is warm and settled, the sea is pleasant for swimming, and you avoid the hottest and busiest weeks of high summer.
Is a Greek Islands cruise better than island-hopping by ferry?+
A cruise is easier and gives you more islands per week with no luggage handling, but you only get a few hours in each. Ferries give you far more time on a single island. If you want to see a lot, a cruise works. If you want to settle in, a ferry-based trip suits better.
